Nestled along the banks of the famous Red River on the Texas and Oklahoma border, S.M. Brown Game Bird Ranch is one of the few remaining Texas Ranch Heritage sites in the state, and, after four generations, remains an active, working ranch to this day. Whether you're hunting Texas bobwhites, pheasant, quail, chukar, Hungarian partridge, dove, hog, turkey, squirrel, duck, deer, or varmint, S.M. Brown Game Bird Ranch takes great pains to ensure you a challenging and exciting hunting experience. Guests are provided with the companionship of the most reliably trained hunting dogs to be found anywhere. From our personally raised and trained hunting dogs like German Wirehairs and German Shorthairs (many imported directly from some of Germany’s most distinguished dog breeders), to our Red Setter hunting dogs and pointing Labs, hunters will be rewarded with their outstanding abilities, adding to your hunting success and enjoyment.
Accommodations The Hunter's Home Away From Home
Our lodge - built on the Brown family's original 1867 homestead site - offers you all the warmth, comfort and down-home amenities you'd expect from a genuine Texas wingshooting ranch.
The main lodge houses 3 bedrooms (with accommodations for up to seven), each decorated with traditional cowboy accents. Our Great Room features a roaring fireplace, TV and library - the perfect place to sip cocktails, swap stories and enjoy a hot, home-cooked meal prepared from scratch by our friendly and courteous staff.
In the evenings, you'll relax on our outdoor patio, replete with fireplaces, comfortable seating and breathtaking views of our scenic horse pasture - an ideal setting for unwinding after a long, successful day in the field.

Hunt Packages
Our customized hunting packages allow you to select your specific choice of service and amenities. Whether it's a half-day father-son hunt or a corporate getaway for up to seven clients, prospects or associates, the S.M. Brown Game Bird Ranch makes the ideal destination.
And unlike other wingshooting operations, our packages don't charge by the bird (which we believe takes way from the genuine Texas upland hunting experience). In fact, our packages have no bag limits whatsoever. This gives our hunters more bang for the buck and a decidedly better value than other lodges. Whether you'd like to concentrate on a single species or a mixed bag, we can customize a hunt package just right for you.
Our hunting season runs from October 1st through March 31st, with morning hunts running from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and afternoon hunts from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (weather permitting). All half and full-day packages include guide, dogs, cold beverages, snacks and bird cleaning/packing service. All-inclusive (overnight/multi-day) packages include comfortable accommodations and delicious, home-cooked meals.
All hunts require a 50% non-refundable deposit in advance. In cases of cancellation, hunts may be rescheduled during the current season. We ask that you please provide us with at least 48-hour cancellation notice.

Texas Quail Hunting
With this package...
